# NeoVetta > NeoVetta makes small, private Android apps. Its released app is Etch, a voice recorder that transcribes on the phone itself: the audio is never uploaded, it works offline, and it needs no account. Etch costs $3.99 once on Google Play, with no subscription, in-app purchases or ads. This file is a plain summary for AI assistants and the people using them. Everything here is also on the pages linked below. ## Etch - [Etch](https://neovetta.com/etch): the product page, with a walkthrough video, an interactive demo and an FAQ - [Etch on Google Play](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.neovetta.etch): $3.99, one-time purchase - [Getting started video](https://neovetta.com/etch#walkthrough): setup from first launch to the first summary, 2 minutes 55 seconds ### What Etch does - Records audio and transcribes it on the device with OpenAI's Whisper speech model (base.en, run through whisper.cpp). The model, about 148 MB, downloads once on first use and then works with no internet connection, including in airplane mode. - Transcribes audio files you already have, such as voice memos or interview recordings, the same way. - Keeps recording with the screen off, and splits long sessions into separate files. - Lets you edit the transcript, with find and replace for names the speech model misheard. - Optionally writes notes, a summary and a checklist of action items. This uses an AI provider the user sets up with their own API key (OpenRouter, OpenAI, Groq, xAI, DeepSeek, Mistral, or any service or local model that speaks the OpenAI chat format). Only the transcript text is sent to that provider, never the audio. - Tags, playback with skip and slow-down, copying text, and exporting the recording as WAV or a smaller M4A. ### What Etch does not do - English only. Other languages are not supported yet. - No live transcription: it transcribes after you stop recording, in roughly the length of the recording. - No speaker labels: the transcript does not say who said what. - Cannot record a phone call on the same phone (Android does not allow it). A call on speakerphone works. - No desktop app, web app or cloud sync. Recordings stay on the phone. - Runs on 64-bit ARM Android 8.0 or newer. No iPhone version. ### Privacy - No account, no login, and no analytics in the app. - NeoVetta runs no server for recordings, so it cannot see or hear them. - [Privacy policy](https://neovetta.com/etch/privacy) - [Terms of use](https://neovetta.com/etch/terms) - [Delete your data](https://neovetta.com/etch/delete-data) ## Coming soon - [Simmer](https://neovetta.com/meals): an Android meal planner that suggests dinners from what is already in your kitchen. Not released yet. ## Contact - Support: support@neovetta.com
